Highlands Chapter Dayhike: Cub Hollow Bushwhack

This Saturday Rick Pendley will be leading a bushwack hike in the Ozark National Forest north of Lurton. He will show us the area called “Cub Hollow”, which is considered a difficult hike because of scrambling and creek crossings. You may want to bring water shoes. The meeting place and time is at Root School for an 8:00 a.m. departure. More meeting places and details are below:

Meeting Place and Time:

  • Meet at Root School on Mission Blvd in Fayetteville for carpooling for a 8:00 a.m. departure; or,
  • Meet for a quick stop at the King’s River Country Store in Marble AR at 8:00 a.m., or,
  • Meet at Deer Store at 10:00 a.m.

Driving Distance:  86 miles

Comments:  Bring water, lunch, rain gear, gloves, and wear hiking boots.  Bushwhacks are non-trail hikes which are generally more difficult than trail hikes.  If you have never done a bushwhack hike, contact the hike leader first to find out about the challenges of the hike.  No pets are allowed on any hikes, and children under 12 years are not allowed on difficult hikes.  Participants are required to sign a “liability release” http://www.ozarksociety.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/OS-Sign-Up_Sheet_rev4.pdf  to take part inT any Ozark Society outing.  Everyone is welcome to hike with the OSHC, whether an Ozark Society member or not*
