BCOS and fellow kayakers, paddle boats, paddle boards or any vessel of choice:
July 31th, Friday, we are going to have a Moonlight Paddle on the Mighty ole
Red River.
We will begin at SciPort and head north to a
sandbar just past the mouth of 12 Mile Bayou on the east bank. That
is about a quarter mile past Margaritaville. There we will have a
bonfire and wiener roast. We have a power boat that will carry our chairs and coolers
to the bonfire and act as an escort on the return trip. We will
meet at 07:00 pm and be prepared to paddle north at 7:30pm with the fading
sunlight turning into a moonlight paddle. On the return trip it will bring you past Downtown and
all the casino lights coupled with the Boardwalk it’s a very pleasant place to be after dark. Thousands (tens of thousands) of birds will escort us north just before dark eating the bugs. Quite a neat sight to be under and witness. Beavers are often seen is this area too. Boat traffic is almost nonexistent that late, but for safety, each vessel should carry at least one white light (i.e.: beam style, headlamp, glow sticks etc.) to highlight
themselves should a boat approach. Our escort boat will also mark our group. Bring a light, food, roasting stick if you have one, chair and bug spray. Downtown will never look better to you! It’s going to be great Friday Night Lights!! Come join us and bring a friend.
If you need a kayak just email or call me.
