Highlands Chapter Outing: OHT TRAIL MAINTENANCE CANCELLED

CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER AND ROAD/TRAIL CONDITION

The trail maintenance coordinator for the Ozark Highlands Trail asked each of the organizations that do trail maintenance on the OHT to go out as soon as possible to assess any damage from the recent snow and wind storm. So we will do maintenance on our section of the OHT this coming Saturday, February 4th, 2023.

Tools to bring: lopers, bow saw, nippers. We welcome anyone with a chainsaw to come and help.

What to wear: hiking boots or sturdy work shoes, long sleeve shirt, long pants, gloves. Jackets/coats as needed depending on weather

Where and when to meet:

• Meet at MANA Family Medicine South parking lot at corner of AR Hwy 16 and Crossover Rd. (Hwy 265) in Fayetteville for a 9:00am departure; or,
• Meet at the Turner Bend Store on AR Hwy 23 south of Cass AR at 10:00am.
• Pack a lunch and bring water, or the Turner Bend Store has great sandwiches as well as snacks and beverages.

No pets are allowed on any hikes, and children under 12 years are discouraged and must be accompanied by a guardian.   Participants are required to sign a “liability release”  http://www.ozarksociety.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/OS-Sign-Up_Sheet_rev4.pdf  at the trailhead to take part in any Ozark Society outing.  Everyone is welcome to hike with the OSHC, whether an Ozark Society member or not.
