The Ozark Society Highlands Chapter meets every second Thursday of each month (Sep-May) at the First United Presbyterian Church (Witherspoon Hall), 695 E Calvin St, Fayetteville AR 72701. Refreshments are at 6:30 p.m. followed by speakers and business at 7:00 p.m. Visitors are welcome.

Comment: Bring water, snack, lunch, rain gear, gloves, and wear hiking boots/shoes. Hiking poles may be helpful. No pets are allowed on any hikes, and children under 12 years are discouraged and must be accompanied by a guardian. Participants are required to sign a liability release at the trailhead to take part in any Ozark Society outing. Everyone is welcome to hike with the OSHC, whether an Ozark Society member or not.

Aldo Leopold is a name not known as well as Henry David Thoreau, but he along with John Muir and Rachel Carson are the pillars for the modern environmental movement and the practice of ecological conservation and preservation. In honor of Aldo Leopold, organizations around the country are celebrating in March “Leopold Week”.
For our March meeting, Thursday, March 12, we will be showing the movie, “Green Fire: Aldo Leopold and A Land Ethic For Our Time”. The movie was produced by the Aldo Leopold Foundation, the Center for Humans and Nature, and The US Forest Service.
