Type of Hike:  Day Hike, Trails

Hiking Distance: about 3 miles

Elevation Gain: yes, some and there will be a lot of stairs going down on the Deer Leap trail

Rating: mostly easy

Features:  Roaring River State Park is known for its rugged mountain like terrain and deep blue spring.  You will experience beautiful scenery on the Fire Tower Trail, the Deer Leap Trail, and then the River Trail.  After lunch there are other trails that can be explored.

Meeting Place and Time:

  • Meet at the Hobby Lobby parking lot on N. College in Fayetteville for carpooling for an 8:45 departure; or,
  • Meet at Roaring River Ozark Chinquapin Nature Center at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 3, 2024.  Click on “Location” below for Google map.

Comments:  Bring water, snacks, lunch, rain gear, gloves, and a hiking stick, and wear comfortable hiking boots/shoes.  You might want to bring binoculars. No pets are allowed on any hikes.  Children under 12 years are discouraged and minors must be accompanied by a guardian.  Participants are required to sign a Liability Release sheet at the trail head to take part in any Ozark Society outing.  Everyone is welcome to hike with the OS, whether an Ozark Society member or not.
