Highlands Chapter Outing: Trail Maintenance on the Ozark Highlands Trail
Trail maintenance between Fane Creek and Ragtown Rd Trailheads, Ozark Highlands Trail, Tom Perry outings leader.
Highland Chapter Trail Maintenance Outing
On Saturday December 1st, Tom Perry will lead our fall maintenance work on the Ozark Highlands Trail segment between Ragtown Road and Fane Creek. Often we take our trails for granted, forgetting they require maintenance to provide a great outdoors experience. For years the Highlands Chapter has helped as stewards for one of the most beautiful portions of the Ozark Highlands Trail. For those with an interest in Ozark history, this particular trail segment uses a 100 year old railroad bed for much of its length. Black bear have been sighted frequently in the stretch as well. Please join us in our effort to do our share. Bring loppers, hand shears, or a small bow saw if you have them. Some tools will be provided.
Departure times/places for this December 1st outing are:
- 9:00 a.m. at FirstCare Medical Center South, Crossover Road and Huntsville Road (AR 265 & 16), Fayetteville for carpooling
- 10:00 a.m. at the Turner Bend Store, 2 mi south of Cass AR on AR Hwy 23 (Pig Trail)
Leader: Tom Perry
