When: Saturday 1/22/22 at 10:30 am
Where: Bodcau Dam (Durden Hills Nature Trails) – Bayou Bodcau Dam
Google map for driving directions to the trailhead: https://goo.gl/maps/MFXyjCXjBjsNsHPB9
Cost: no cost but need to “check in” either using the LDWF app or at the check-in station on site
Parking/amenities: Meeting in the parking lot at the iron ranger station (check-in station) at the TOP of the Bodcau Dam; No cost but need to check-in either using the paper forms at the iron ranger station or on your phone using the LDWF app. All of the Durden Hills trails can be accessed from this parking lot. There are restrooms DOWN the hill from this parking area in the Tom Merrill campgrounds (both on the upstream side of the dam and the downstream side of the dam) that are typically very clean/nice (arrive EARLY so that you have time to hit those restrooms before the hike); there is a large/nice picnic area in the campground area at the spillway (downstream side of the dam) we’ll use for lunch after the hike
Duration: Hiking the upstream RED + YELLOW Loops (about 5 miles)
Difficulty: Easy to Moderate (these upstream trails have a few more hills to climb than the trails on the downstream side)
