Name of Hike:  BRT:  Pruitt Picnic Area to Ozark Campground Return

Day, Date:  Saturday, April 2, 2022

 Meeting Place and Time:

  • Meet at the Kings River Country Store in Marble AR at 9:00 am for car-caravaning, or,
  • Meet at the Pruitt trailhead in the Buffalo National River at 10:30 am. (There is no sign but it is at the intersection of the southwest side of the river and Hwy. 7). You will see an old dilapidated Forest Service Bldg. Go past it on the right to the parking lot.  There is no facility at this starting point).

Location:  Hwy. 7 South of Harrison or Hwy. 7 North of Jasper at the Buffalo River.

Hiking Distance:  About 6 miles

Elevation:  214 ft. climb and 232 ft. descent on the Buffalo River Trail

Rating: Easy to moderate on an established trail

Features:  Beautiful views of the Buffalo River with two huge bluff lines, woods, rock outcroppings, a pond, wildflowers, and a small creek

Comment:  Bring water, snack, lunch, rain gear, gloves, and wear hiking boots/shoes.  Hiking poles will be helpful.  No pets are allowed on any hikes, and children under 12 years are discouraged and must be accompanied by a guardian.   Participants are required to sign a “liability release” http://www.ozarksociety.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/OS-Sign-Up_Sheet_rev4.pdf  at the trailhead to take part in any Ozark Society outing.  Everyone is welcome to hike with the OSHC, whether an Ozark Society member or not.
