Highlands Chapter February Meeting:

“Ticks on the Trails:  Keeping Safe from Ticks while Outdoors in Arkansas “

Our speaker will be Dr. Emily McDermott, Assistant Professor of Medical and Veterinary Entomology at University of Arkansas.  Dr. McDermott plans to cover ehrlichiosis, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, and alpha-gal, the diseases most common to people in Arkansas.  She will also talk a little about Lyme disease, since it’s the one people tend to hear the most about, and there are a lot of misconceptions about it, yet it’s not very common in Arkansas.
