*Cancelled* – Bayou Chapter – Little Red River Shirley

By |2019-04-28T13:16:20-05:00May 3rd, 2019|Categories: |Tags: |

Cancelled!!! - Camp, paddle and fish the Little Red River in Shirley, Arkansas.  Shirley offers a free-camp city park on the Little Red River.  Note that the city park campground offers NO amenities; however, there is a ball field within the park that has restrooms that are sometimes unlocked.  If we have a decent group and some need use of those facilities, I'll contact the city and see if they'll help us out. Little Red River Outfitters in Shirley offers shuttle and boat rental service.  For $10 they will pick us up at camp and carry you and your boat upriver.  For $25/35 they will take you and one of their boats upriver.  Depending on water flow, fishing and chilling, its a 3-4 float back to camp. Shirley is 4 1/2 hours (256 miles) north of Benton.  Directions are north to I-30, east to Little Rock I-430 Bypass and then North/West on I-40 to Conway.  Go North on US 65 to Clinton then take AR Hwy 9 east to Shirley.  It's very hilly in this area so keep your speed down.  Cross the river as you arrive into town and take the first left into the city park. I've camped at [...]
