Dr. Neal Compton Celebration Day Compton Gardens 312 N. Main Street Bentonville, Arkansas Saturday, August 10th 2019 Free Family Fun for the community:  9:00 a.m. to noon Dr. Compton Day is a free community event for all ages to learn about conservation, environmental stewardship and recreational activities in NWA. The event is a celebration of Dr. Compton and the issues he championed in Arkansas and beyond. The celebration will also include the unveiling of our very own Dr. Compton Neon Sign, followed by a raffle drawing! Activities feature interactive stations from a growing list of organizations, including: - Arkansas Environment Education Association - Buffalo River Foundation - The Ozarks Society - The Buffalo River Watershed - Buffalo National River Partners - School of Rock - Lost Buffalo Grill - Master Naturalists Events include: Rock painting Music Ice cream Cake Food trucks Shopping and more! Highlands Chapter Spring Picnic

Mark your calendars for the Ozark Society Highlands Chapter Spring Picnic on May 11. We are happy to announce that the picnic will again be at Terry and Susan Fredrick's house on Beaver Lake. It's a gorgeous place with a great view of the lake, so please join us; guests are welcome. The spring picnic replaces the OSHC May monthly meeting. Below are just a few details; more information will be coming soon. What: Ozark Society Highlands Chapter Spring Picnic When: Saturday, May 11, 2019 You can float anytime starting after 10:00am till time to go home. Our potluck picnic starts at 2:00pm and runs till 6:00pm, so lots of time to socialize. Calvin St., Fayetteville AR Time: 6:30 p.m. social, 7:00 p.m. program/speaker, 8:00 p.m. short meeting Topic: Why Saving Land Matters Speaker: Terri Lane, Executive Director, Northwest Arkansas Land Trust Terri Lane grew up on Kessler Mountain, where she developed a deep appreciation for the outdoors and has hiked, backpacked, and canoed through the years. She has been an outdoor environmental educator, program director and wilderness instructor. She will talk about the mission and vision of the NWA Land Trust and how it protects environmentally significant land. Our meeting gives us a chance to learn more about the important contribution NWA Land Trust makes to Benton and Washington Counties. Given the intense development pressure in our area, the preservation of wild-life corridors ensures the quality of life for future generations. Please come join us. We meet Tuesday, April 23rd in Witherspoon Hall at the First United Presbyterian Church, 965 E. Calvin St. Fayetteville Arkansas 72703.
