Trail:  Cecil Cove Trail to Jones Homestead and back

This is a very scenic area with spring-fed ponds, streams, and historic stone walls within the Buffalo National River Park.  We will go to the old Jones Homestead and Cemetery and then return the way we came.

Distance of hike: approx. 5 miles-guessing around 500’ elev. gain(?)

Difficulty of hike: Moderate-Difficult with 2 wet creek crossings

Meeting time: 10:00 a.m.  PLEASE BE PROMPT!

Meeting Place:  Cecil Cove Trailhead off Hwy 43 at Compton, AR.  Across from the Compton P.O. take Compton-Erbie Rd/CR 2700 for about 5-6 miles (gravel).  This is the same road as to Compton TH-drive past Compton TH to the Cecil Cove TH sign on the left just before the Erbie Church.

 Please bring lunch, water, snacks, hiking boots/shoes, proper clothing for the temps/conditions.  Bring your own first aid supplies, bug spray, sunscreen or whatever you need for the day.

There will be wet creek crossings—Bring some sort of wading shoes or you can wade in your boots if you like/we will be stopping to change shoes at the crossings, if we can’t rock-hop.

No dogs allowed on Buffalo National River Park trails.

We are just some experienced hiking friends who are casually meeting at a trailhead to go hiking.  Hike at your own risk; everyone is responsible for their own self/well-being.  Hikes are limited to 16 people.

No children under age 15 allowed. 

There will be an Ozark Society Liability Waiver for everyone to sign.
