Highlands Chapter Dayhike: Wolf Creek
On Saturday, March 16, the Highlands Chapter will be hiking in an area of the Ozark National Forest near Deer AR. We will be visiting the Left Fork of Big Creek, waterfalls, and Wolf Creek. We will be following social trails which may be slick and muddy. There will be many water crossings which may be up to knee deep if it rains this week-well advised to bring dry shoes and socks to change into at the end of the hike. Please see details below.

Hiking Distance: 4+ miles
Elevation Gain: 400 feet
Rating: Difficult due to scrambling, slick mud, and creek crossings
Features: We will encounter the creek strewn with big rocks, waterfalls, and bluffs at Wolf Creek.

Meeting Place and Time:
- Meet for carpooling for an 8:00 am departure at Root Elementary School, 1529 E Mission Blvd, Fayetteville AR; or,
- Meet for a short stop at 8:40 am at the Kings River Country Store, Marble AR; or,
- Meet at the intersection of AR Highways 7 and 16 two miles east of Deer AR at 10:00 am. From there, we will drive to the trailhead. The road to the trailhead is rough, hopefully we can gather in a few cars because there isn’t a lot of room to park at the trailhead.

Driving Distance: 80 miles from Fayetteville carpool to meeting point.
Comments: Bring water, lunch, rain gear, bug spray, gloves, and wear hiking boots. No pets are allowed on any hikes, and children under 12 years must be accompanied by a guardian. Participants are required to sign a “liability release” http://www.ozarksociety.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/OS-Sign-Up_Sheet_rev4.pdf at the trailhead to take part in any Ozark Society outing. Everyone is welcome to hike with the OSHC, whether an Ozark Society member or not.
