On Saturday, April 6, 2023 Jack and Sue Mabry will be leading a hike in the Rush area.  You will find the ghost town Rush by going 10 miles south of Yellville on Highway 14, there is a sign at county Road 6035 where you turn left to go another 4 miles to find the old town.  The Morning Star Mine trailhead will be just past the line of buildings and that is where Jack and Sue Mabry will meet hikers at 10:00 AM.  Please see more details below:

Name of Hike:  Rush Mountain Mining Trail

Type of Hike:  mostly trail

Hiking Distance:  4.5 miles

Elevation Gain:  600 feet

Rating:  Moderate

Features:  On this hike we will be visiting some of the mines around the ghost town of Rush.  There is a lot of history in this area where more than 5000 people once lived and most are gone now.  The Buffalo River and Rush landing are close by.  We will be by the beautiful Clabber Creek for awhile.

Comments:  Bring water, lunch, rain gear, bug spray, gloves, and wear hiking boots. No pets are allowed on any hikes, and children under 12 years must be accompanied by a guardian.  Participants are required to sign a “liability release”  http://www.ozarksociety.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/OS-Sign-Up_Sheet_rev4.pdf at the trailhead to take part in any Ozark Society outing.  Everyone is welcome to hike with the OSHC, whether an Ozark Society member or not.
