Ouachita Trail Maintenance Workday

 

When to meet: 9:30 AM Saturday, April 4

Where to meet: Highway 9 Trailhead, Ouachita Trail – from Little Rock, take Highway 10 (Cantrell Road) west to the junction of Highway 9 – turn south on Highway 9 and drive 2.6 miles south. The trailhead sign and parking lot is on the left side of the road.

What we will be doing: light trail maintenance on Ouachita Trail from mile markers 191.8 (Highway 9 trailhead) to 187.4 (Forest Road 152 just south of Lake Sylvia campground). We will likely divide into two teams; one team will work from the Highway 9 trailhead west to the Nancy Mountain shelter; after the initial meeting at the Highway 9 trailhead, the second team will drive to the Forest Road 152 trailhead just south of Lake Sylvia campground and work east to Nancy Mountain shelter.

What to bring: handheld pruning shears, longer handled loppers for cutting small limbs growing into trail corridor, pruning saw or small bow saw, daypack, drinking water, snack or lunch

Weather: we will cancel trail maintenance if heavy or constant rain is in the forecast; otherwise, we will meet at the appointed time – text Alan Nye (501-258-7137) with your name and phone number will also ensure you receive notification of cancellation due to weather
